Glasgow's Doors Open Days event 'Glasgow Doors Open Days Festival' takes place over a week in September with a programme of open buildings, walks, talks, tours, special events and children's activities.
Now in its 29th year, Glasgow Doors Open Days Festival returns to throw open the doors of the city in celebration of Glasgow’s architecture, culture and heritage. Come along 10-16th September to get behind the scenes in some of Glasgow’s iconic historic buildings as well as working factories, breweries, theatres and more. With a whole new programme, featuring hundreds of open buildings, walks, talks, tours, exhibitions, special events and children’s activities, the city is yours to explore!
Doors Open Days is a national event run by the Scottish Civic Trust. Information about the national programme, including event listings, can be found at www.doorsopendays.org.uk. Doors Open Days, along with Scottish Archaeology Month take place throughout Scotland and are part of European Heritage Days – an initiative which promotes a sense of community and a “common heritage” throughout the continent.
2018 Programme Highlights
The Cloud Water Zen Centre
Opened in 2017 for people of any faith or belief. It offers a space for quiet meditation and reflection, set in an impressive 8 storey red sandstone building in the heart of Glasgow city centre.
Dear Green Coffee Roasters
Dear Green Coffee Roasters are based in Glasgow’s East End. In this two-hour tour learn about the origins of coffee and hear Norry from Lost Glasgow spill the beans about the history of Glasgow’s coffee houses.
The Old Pumphouse, Clydeside Distillery
