Following the success of 2017’s Halloween festival, and the launch of a Bite Size variation in April, the Popcorn Horror team are incredibly excited to bring a varied line-up of scares to their home city on the 27th and 28th October. With brand new attractions and elements being introduced for 2018, the festival is set to be a unique Halloween experience for Scottish Horror fans.
Already confirmed in the line up is the brand new interactive attraction The House With Neon Windows, which takes place on the Saturday night in the appropriately spooky boiler room of Stereo. Combining 80s visuals with escape room style experiences, old school horror hosts and a one-off original horror soundscape; this new attraction is being presented in partnership with horror experts Scare Scotland.
Of course, plenty of scary films will be screening over the two days - including world class, groundbreaking independent horror feature films and shorts programs. Classic, iconic horror movies are also on the bill; with William Castle’s House on Haunted Hill presented in ‘EMERGO!’ The cult classic starring Vincent Price was originally presented along with Castle’s signature interactive features - including the flying skeleton, ghouls coming to life in the theatre, and nurses on-site to provide guest death warrants.
As with previous years, panels, debates, speakers, and a horror themed artist and vendor market will also be on offer to guests.
Already confirmed additions to the line-up also include a live double-bill of horror theater from Big Puppet Theatre Co. - who last year performed a spectacular and sinister adaptation of the Edgar Allan Poe tale The Masque of the Red Death. Joseph Traynor, creator of horror musicals is also taking to the main stage with original play Ghost Story, which is sure to evoke the atmosphere of a night at a twisted, gruesome opera.
For those who love all things gore, talented make-up artist Taarna Swanson will be giving guests an inside look at creating monsters and gory effects.
Popcorn Horror began life in 2011 as a mobile app, and has since grown to an international horror collective and founders of Glasgow Horror Festival. They began in 2015 with a one-night event, progressing to a full day, then two day major Halloween festival. With praise from independent horror icon Emma Dark, major horror bloggers The Slaughtered Bird and Richard Rowntree - director of cult folk-horror Dogged; Glasgow Horror Fest has backing from some of the most exciting names in the indie horror industry.
Earlybird tickets are on sale for the 2018 festival now. Popcorn Horror believe in giving fans a worthwhile, scary experience and an unforgettable Halloween weekend. Therefore, tickets cover EVERYTHING; all films, performances, speakers and events. Earlybird tickets also include free horror gifts created in partnership with independent artists and crafters, tokens for free popcorn and priority seating.
While we take every opportunity to ensure the details for Glasgow Horror Fest are accurate, we always advise that you contact the event organiser before setting out for the event to avoid disapointment.
