Relax and enjoy chamber jazz of the highest quality as award-winning pianist/composer Euan Stevenson (Emerging Artist Scottish Jazz Awards 2013) hosts another season of Sunday Jazz at the Tron.
Sunday 25th February: Colin Steele/Graeme Stephen/Euan Burton
Three of Scotland’s finest jazz musicians join together to play an exciting set of original compositions and jazz standards.
Sunday 25th March: Remembering Sandy Taylor
Raconteur, wit, and the best jazz pianist in the room; any room. Sandy Taylor was a man who flew in WW2 and helped Carol Kidd gain international attention as her accompanist. Sandy passed away in 2015 aged 92, he left a legion of fans who adored his impeccable playing, but he also left behind two protégés who give tribute to his life and his music; saxophonist Laura MacDonald and singer and broadcaster Stephen Duffy. Featuring long time associate guitarist Stephen Coutts and pianist Euan Stevenson, expect laughter, a few tears and some very fine music.
Sunday 29th April: Rose Room
Classy vintage swing and gypsy jazz played by a band that combines brilliant musicianship and warm personality. Glasgow-based Scottish Jazz Awards finalists Rose Room are led by violinist, and 2017 Scottish Jazz Awards 'Best Vocalist', Seonaid Aitken, with Tom Watson and Tam Gallagher on solo and rhythm guitars and Jimmy Moon on double bass.
Sunday 27th May: Anthony Bowers & The Euan Stevenson Trio
Enjoy laid-back, classic standards as the swinging Euan Stevenson Trio is joined by an exciting new voice on the Scottish jazz scene. Anthony Bowers is an accomplished jazz singer with a warm, glowing tone and expressive phrasing. He’s thrilled audiences alongside musicians like Mario Caribe, Dave Newton and Konrad Wiszniewski. Expect rich, soulful vocals, lyrical arrangements and a fresh take on the Great American Songbook.
Sunday 24th June: Strathclyde Youth Jazz Orchestra
Scotland's top emerging young singers bring fresh voice to their favourite ballads and swinging standards.
Sunday 29th July: Tom Gibbs’ Various Talents
Tom Gibbs is known as one of the finest, creative jazz pianists to emerge on the Scottish scene in recent years. In this concert he also features his lesser known (but equally astonishing) gifts for the clarinet.
