Following its successful run at the RichMix Gallery in Bethnal Green, London, photographer Campbell Mitchell launches VIVA, a solo photographic exhibition at Tinderbox Charing Cross, Glasgow, celebrating both the glitz and glamour of the UK Elvis Tribute Artists and the staggering impact that Elvis Presley continues to have upon us, forty years after his death.

VIVA showcases the devotion and obsession of Elvis fans and their musical tribalism that has become a religion. The photographs detail the mania of fans at the Elvis Tribute events and, exclusively reveal homes of some of the most obsessive fans in the country – people who have turned their entire houses into shrines to their idol.

Viva runs from 20th. January 2018 until the end of February. There will be an Exhibition Opening Night from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm on Friday 19th. January, featuring an all-Elvis DJ set by Mark Percival (ex BBC Scotland and Xfm), and a special live performance by Elvis Tribute Artiste Johnny Lee Memphis (European Elvis Champion, World Cup Champion.

Campbell’s eye has long been drawn to the quirky, the strange and the obsessive. He has a first class honours degree in photography from the University of the West of Scotland and won the Court Medal in both his final two years as well as the Schools of Creative Industries Prize for best creative project and best research project.

In addition to his photography, Campbell regularly works as a Standby Props person with filmmakers such as Stephen Frears, Guy Ritchie, Paul Thomas Anderson and Ken Loach.

While we take every opportunity to ensure the details for VIVA Glasgow are accurate, we always advise that you contact the event organiser before setting out for the event to avoid disapointment.
