With Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia cooperating closely to make the most of their upcoming centenary celebrations, we couldn’t resist the opportunity to screen films from each of these countries and join the festivities.
From Estonia’s upbeat 1980s set comedy The Dissidents to Latvia’s menacing and disturbing Firstborn via Lithuania’s Miracle and A Gentle Creature, which focuses on the comedic struggle to move from communism to capitalism, these films showcase the growing talent and confidence of our eastern neighbours.
