In 1998, a 21 year old man was discovered badly beaten and left for dead, tied to a fence in Laramie, Wyoming. His name was Matthew Shepard. He was gay. He died a few days later in hospital.
Over the next 18 months members of the Laramie community were interviewed by the Tectonic Theater Project. Their responses to the crime, its effect on the community, and the trial of the two young men accused of killing Shepard, were pieced together to create this stark, simple and affecting theatrical experience.
While we take every opportunity to ensure the details for The Laramie Project are accurate, we always advise that you contact the event organiser before setting out for the event to avoid disapointment.
