The Million Dollar Orchestra Live

About The Million Dollar Orchestra Live

The Million Dollar Orchestra debuted over a decade ago with a highly ambitious project, recording an album using - possibly for the first time since disco’s 1970s heyday - strings and horns and a real live band in pursuit of an authentic, credible but original disco production. The final head count was somewhere in the region of 25 musicians and the result was the highly acclaimed “Better Days” album that was released by BBE Records. Glasgow DJ Al Kent was the man behind the project, who sold a large chunk of his record collection to finance what seemed like a once in a lifetime opportunity.

Despite the album achieving something of a cult status, and copies now rising in value among collectors, little has been heard of the band since. So it’s with a great deal of genuine excitement that we can announce this latest adventure…

THE MILLION DOLLAR ORCHESTRA LIVE ON STAGE
PAYING TRIBUTE TO THE STARS OF SALSOUL!

We’ve teamed up with Salsoul Records, with a little help from the Glasgow Jazz Festival, to bring you something extra extra special. When we say Orchestra, we mean Orchestra. And when we say Salsoul, we mean Salsoul.. With a nine piece band backed up by a 26 piece (at least) orchestra, performing some of the best music ever written and released on the most legendary of record labels, I’m sure you can understand our elation.

Anyone who’s familiar with Million Dollar Disco will know that quality of sound is really important to us, so the fact we’re doing this in Saint Luke’s - a converted church with surprisingly good acoustics, and a sound system curated by one of Glasgow’s finest engineers - just adds another layer of pleasure.

DJ support on the night will come from Al Kent, with a secret after party already being planned.

Tickets for this unique event are very limited - Saint Luke’s is not the biggest venue in the world. So early commitment is highly recommended (and you can save £2 in the process!).

While we take every opportunity to ensure the details for The Million Dollar Orchestra Live are accurate, we always advise that you contact the event organiser before setting out for the event to avoid disapointment.
