Together, we’ll merge visual art and drama to make our own living artworks and we’ll learn about the work of important performance artists to inspire us. There will be lots of playful games, creative tasks and experiments for us to explore the basics of visual composition and performance skills. This summer school promises a fun, relaxed and playful environment you can make new friends, develop your confidence, experiment, and be truly creative!
Aby Watson is a Glasgow based artist, maker, facilitator, performer and researcher working in contemporary performance.
She is passionate about making complex, risk-taking and accessible performance for a wide variety of audiences. Her performances use movement, choreography, text, action and autobiography, with a healthy dose of humour, to explore elements of being human. She strives to challenge elitist values in performance. Her interests include deskilling, feminism, failure, pop culture and neurodiversity.
Aby graduated with a First Class (BA) Hons in Contemporary Performance Practice at The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. She is a practice-based researcher and is currently undergoing her PhD, Choreographing Clumsy: Dyspraxia and Choreographic Practice. Aby is dyslexic and dyspraxic and this identity is carried into every aspect of her practice.
