Surface appearances and Deeper Truths: Thermography and Moisture Analysis in the Built Environment.

Thursday 9th August 2018 | 12.30-1.30pm | 54 Bell Street, Glasgow

This seminar will discuss the use of infrared thermography and subsurface moisture analysis to understand the performance of buildings and structures.

Dr Maureen Young joined Historic Environment Scotland (HES) in 2007 as a Conservation Scientist. With a background in geology, Dr Young has been involved with a range of built environment research projects including building stone decay, damp problems, stone cleaning, biocide and conservation treatments. Her main activities currently include infrared thermal imaging (qualified as a Level 2 thermographer), assessment of moisture problems and material characterisation including the use of X-ray fluorescence and X-ray diffraction analysis. She also participates in collaborative research projects providing supervision and access to equipment for research students.

All GCHT CPD sessions are recognised by the IHBC, and attendees can obtain a CPD certificate upon completion.

CPDs are OPEN TO ALL, whether you are an experienced practitioner, contractor, specifier, student, homeowner, or just keen to learn a bit more about the historic built environment. We look forward to meeting you.
