About SENSEcity Walking Tour with AR to experience tales around Merchant City

Come join this 90 mins walking tour along the old heart of Glasgow and see how it has reinvented itself. Discover how some of the derelict buildings were saved and are now fashionable bars, restaurants, theatres and music venues. En route, we will be introduced to stories around interesting characters who have left a mark in the city centers east end. Learn about the shift in the cultural landscape of Merchant City while you discover the surprising historical core.

Strolling through the cobbled streets of Candleriggs and Glasgow Cross, uncover Merchant City’s hidden secrets through plaques, sculptures, architecture, street art and social history. We will explore the repurposed old markets and learn how Glasgow fed the city long before the supermarkets. The walk will start at the foyer of the City Chambers Building and end at the Britannia Panopticon Music Halls which is the oldest surviving Music Halls in the UK.

Each attendee will be handed a pamphlet filled with illustrations of some of the listed buildings and will soon be given a link to the app store to download an Augmented Reality Application. Get ready to have an immersive experience, while we travel back in time and enjoy the evolution of some of the spaces en route.
