Nordoff Robbins Scotland and sponsor SSE are delighted to reveal the first nominees and performers for 2018’s awards are Snow Patrol and Tom Grennan.
With some of the most legendary figures in music receiving prestigious awards over the years including Paolo Nutini, Emeli Sandé, Annie Lennox and Deacon Blue, 2018’s star-studded ceremony will not only reflect on an incredible year for Scotland, but also on the music and artists who have been the soundtrack of a nation for the past twenty years.
After years of the event taking place in Glasgow’s legendary Old Fruitmarket, the SSE Scottish Music Awards will this year take place at the SEC on Saturday 1st December. With organisers pulling some of the biggest acts from across the UK to Glasgow to celebrate a very special birthday, it seemed fitting that this year’s awards were the biggest and best yet. With a host of surprises, special guests and huge celebrations planned, there is no doubt the SEC will be the perfect venue for this year’s 20th birthday bash.
The SSE Scottish Music Awards have been the main fundraising event for music therapy charity Nordoff Robbins Scotland since 1996. Funds raised on the night are a vital part of the charity’s ability to provide music therapists and sessions to those who need it most.
2017’s winners and attendees included Emeli Sandé, Nina Nesbitt, Lewis Capaldi, Tom Walker and Hipsway, with 2018 set to be the biggest and best in the awards’ 20 year history.
