About #Hypocrisy: performance poet Imogen Stirling
Sorry, but this event has been and gone!
We are thrilled performance poet Imogen Stirling will be performing her 5 * show #Hypocrisy at our first ever spoken word poetry night!
Here's the blurb!
“Lost in the bliss of foreign travel, Imogen joyfully succumbs to the spoils of western privilege. Returning to Scotland, a harsh society confronts her. Dangerous politicians prevail, the media sells fictions masquerading as reality, an ocean of social media sympathy pours forth for western terror victims, yet backs turn on the migrant crisis.
What staggering hypocrisy.
A seamless blend of sharp spoken word poetry, dark comedy and original music, #Hypocrisy reminds us that in complacency lies the most heart-stopping terror.
Be disconcerted, be cautioned. The premiere of this blistering performance will leave you questioning: why me and not them?”
#Hypocrisy debuted at the Edinburgh Fringe this year where it sold out its run, was longlisted for the Amnesty International Freedom of Expression Award, and was endorsed by Darren 'Loki' McGarvey, the Scottish rapper and Orwell Prize-winning author, who said: "I highly recommend Imogen Stirling's wonderfully worded show, #Hypocrisy. An immersive meditation on those aspects of life we conveniently turn blind eyes to." Following its Fringe success, #Hypocrisy was selected by London's Theatre503 to be part of their 'Best of the Fest' programme this November where it received a 5 star review. The show will be touring in early 2019 before showcasing at the Prague Fringe Festival.
While we take every opportunity to ensure the details for #Hypocrisy: performance poet Imogen Stirling are accurate, we always advise that you contact the event organiser before setting out for the event to avoid disapointment.
