Repair Café & Visible Mending Workshop

About Repair Café & Visible Mending Workshop

Repair Café Glasgow is on a mission to save your items from landfill. We host monthly events in spaces across the city where people can get help to fix their broken things. All our events are open to everyone and operate on a donation basis.

This September, we will hosting our last fixing session at Kinning Park Complex before the building closes for renovations. Do you have a lamp that won't light? How about a blender that's in a bad way? We repair handheld personal electronics, electrical and textile goods! Bring your item along, we will pair you up with a volunteer repairer and attempt to fix your broken thing!

This month, Alis Le May from Decent Projects CIC will be hosting a visible mending workshop using speedweves. Speedweves are perfect for darning holes and adding colour to your clothes through mending. Sign up for the workshop via the Eventbrite link. Tickets are limited so if you sign up and can't make it please let us know so your space can go to someone else.

Repair Cafés are a hands-on way to learn how this throwaway culture we live in fails both people and the planet. It is a practical step to doing something about it as we reduce our waste and share skills in our communities.

On the day, we will also have tea, coffee and tasty homemade baked goods, all our events are on a pay-what-you-want basis.

Take a look at our house rules on our website to find out exactly how it all works:

Repair Café Glasgow is supported by the Climate Challenge Fund and European Regional Development Fund. The Climate Challenge Fund provides grants and support for community-led organisations to tackle climate change by running projects that reduce carbon local emissions. The European Regional Development Fund comes from the European Structural and Investment Fund which helps to facilitate major investments to support transformational change and economic and social structural reforms across Scotland.
