Glasgow University Opera Society presents Dido and Aeneas by Mr Henry Purcell: a tale of unfulfilled love, deceit, and tragedy. The opera will be preceded by Purcell’s rarely performed Masque of Cupid and Bacchus, based on Thomas Shadwell’s adaptation of Shakespeare’s Timon of Athens.
This event is free, and not ticketed. Doors open at 7pm. Please arrive early to avoid disappointment.
There will be a retiring collection for the Cheyne Gang singing-for-breathing group that meets weekly in the church. The group was set up by GUOS President Sophie Boyd and it is a great example of the benefits of singing on health and well-being.
We hope that you will be able to join us for our final show!
