About Chamber Music at The Drake - Oysters, Tears and Gold Moidores - CANCELLED

“Oysters, Tears and Gold Moidores”

A miscellany of pieces by local composer Janette Montague that draw from the influences of Scottish land and seascapes, poetry and nature performed by a vocal ensemble, accordion and violin.

The programme includes:

'When Sorrow Calls (Piobaireachd's Ghost)’; a piece inspired by reading about the high incidence of neonatal deaths on St Kilda in the 19th century.

'Caller Oysters’; a setting of Robert Fergusson's poem.

‘Clocks’; a clicking piece.

‘Waves'; a reflection by the seaside

'John Anderson, my Jo, John’; a setting of the Scottish Folk song with added verses.

‘Cargoes'; a setting of the beautiful poem by John Masefield.

‘Murmuration'; for accordion and violin

Performers are:

David Douglas: Tenor
Phil Gault: Baritone
Siobhan McAuley: Soprano
Aimee Penman: Soprano
Greta Cydzikaité: violin
Caroline Hussey: accordion
