Cast against type in the adaptation of Marie Belloc Lowndes' novel of the same name, Ivor Novello was known as a musician and family entertainer but was cast as a mysterious man in the centre of a murderous plot. This controversial casting almost lead to the end of Hitchcock's career before it even began.

Due to the nature of this film no person under the age of 18 is allowed to attend.
