This adult only event is part of the Book Week Scotland 2019 organised by the Scottish Book Trust.

With the support of local author and creative writing teacher Ann MacLaren, you will start by looking briefly at and talking about different kinds of personal storytelling (autobiography, memoir, oral history). Participants will be invited to take part in some short exercises to prompt memories - for example, describing a place from their past (a room, a park etc); a particular event in their past (a school trip, first job etc.); a person from their past (best friend, granny etc.). They will then be encouraged to develop one of these memories into a short piece of writing (or notes) so that (if they wish) their stories can be shared aloud with the other participants.

The event will include some refreshments and light snacks. Although this workshop is FREE, we would like to ask everyone to consider a £10,- donation on the day toward our library fund to upkeep our multilingual library, thank you!

Please book your place in advance as spaces are limited.

While we take every opportunity to ensure the details for Book Week Scotland: Tell It Like It Was are accurate, we always advise that you contact the event organiser before setting out for the event to avoid disapointment.
