An evening in which Futuristic Electro Folk Pop icon, EW Harris, direct from Brooklyn, New York City, starts what will be an amazing night at Swing; with Top Glasgow Blues/Soul singer Charlotte Marshall taking the evening into the early hours.
EW makes his second appearance at Swing.
He brings with him a totally original singing style and imaginative songs that owe their origins to out-of left-field, sci-fi, lost loves and acute observation.
Of his latest album he says: “In the not so distant future the world looks very different than it does today. An asteroid has collided with the earth. Large stretches of what would now be called wasteland isolate technocratic city states. In one such city, Rocket City to be precise, a slum lord and a techno-hierophant labor in secret. Their goal, to create a new kind of life, and in so doing attempt to glimpse into the future. From this fantastical setting, born from the imagination of ambient folk artist E.W. Harris, comes Homunculus; a mixed media exploration not only of the possible future, but of personhood, prejudice, emotion, and ultimately of ourselves.”
Charlotte Marshall is a towering figure in the Glasgow Blues scene. With Fraser John Lindsey, she hosts the weekly Blues Jam at Swing as well as appearing with her own band "Charlotte Marshall and the 45s" at events across the UK, as well as Fraser John Lindsay's Blues Incentive and the duo "Black Snake Roots".
