The estate, with its spectacular views across the Firth of Clyde, is open all year and is situated on the A8 ten minutes west of Glasgow Airport.

Finlaystone offers a great family day out with imaginative play areas, picnic areas & BBQ sites, colourful gardens, tumbling waterfalls, events and activities, tea room, shop, visitor centre and the 'Clan MacMillan Centre' of particular interest to decendants of MacMillans, Baxters & Cunninghams.

Woodlands
There are approximately 140 acres of woodlands at Finlaystone, including trees which are estimated to be well over 400 years old. The Estate has several trails of varying degrees of length and difficulty. Some are accessible with a pram or small children. All are designed to lead you through the varied environment and landscape in the Estate. Maps and further information are available in the visitor centre. There are a number of BBQ sites in the woods which visitors are welcome to use.

Play Area
One of the best attractions for the children is the extensive play area which has been largely built from local materials.
We have a boat, a huge tram and hummer, a pirate ship and many more fun places to play, including an under 6 year old centre in the woods.
There is also a burn to get wet in and normally some mud as well so room for lots of amusement.

Gardens
Stroll though the 10 acres of gardens with spectacular views across the Firth of Clyde, pausing to appreciate the special plants and Finlaystone’s renowned beauty. Don’t miss the ‘Smelly” garden, the intricate Celtic paving or the 70 metre serpentine herbaceous border. Enjoy the sweeping lawns and sculptured hedges, seek out ‘Slave’s Paradise’, discover the Knott & bog gardens before relaxing at the Tea Room in the walled garden. Visitors may also picnic on the lawns and enjoy the quieter side of the estate.

Tea Rooms
The Garden Café is located in the beautiful surroundings of the walled garden. We offer a selection of drinks including freshly ground coffee, hot & cold snacks, homemade soup, a range of freshly made healthy meals and sandwiches as well as a selection of wonderful home baking and delicious Mackies ice cream.
Open 10am to 5pm Weekends, School Holidays and Bank Holidays.

Visitor Centre & Gift Shop
The Visitor Centre offers a variety of gifts and toys for visitors young and old as well as information on the estate. Products include toys, jams and books as well as items of interest to those interested in Clan MacMillan.

Private Events
Ranger organised activities are available for children’s parties, scout and guide groups or corporate events etc. We would be pleased to discuss your requirements. The Laundry and other buildings available for booking for private events.

Plant Sales
Plants grown on the estate available from Easter–October. Traditional holly wreaths during December. Snowdrop posies and potted bulbs for sale in February. Snowdrop bulbs “in the green” to order available in March.
