At this time, there is no set date for re-entry, and the centre expects to remain closed for the duration of July and August.
CCA is based in the 150-year-old Alexander ‘Greek’ Thomson Grecian Chambers on the corner of Sauchiehall Street and Scott Street; the centre welcomed 343,397 visitors last year.
Through its unique open source programme, which sees over 250 arts organisations and individuals bring almost 1200 events to the building every year, CCA offers free venue space for arts events. The staff at CCA are currently working with event programmers; all events will be cancelled, postponed or moved to a new venue. Around 115 events, exhibitions and residencies have been impacted by the closure. Full details will be updated on cca-glasgow.com/programme/cca-closure as new locations or cancellations are confirmed.
Two exhibitions – Jonas Staal’s The Scottish-European Parliament and A Weakness for Raisins: Films & Archive of Ester Krumbachová – have been postponed until CCA reopens, while Sogol Mabadi & Emma Helen Reid’s Encounter no. 1 has moved to The Pipe Factory on Bain Street; Jamie Kane’s Grafting will also move to an alternative gallery which will be announced soon.
Publication Studio Glasgow, based in CCA and run in partnership with My Bookcase, Good Press Gallery, A Feral Studio and Joanna Peace, which offers an open source publishing facility, will be closed. CCA is also home to Cultural Tenants – cultural and artistic organisations who are based in office space in the centre and contribute to CCA’s programme. These are BHP Comics; Camcorder Guerrillas; Cryptic; Document Film Festival; Electron Club; LUX Scotland; MAP Magazine; Paragon; Playwrights’ Studio Scotland; Scottish Ensemble; Scottish Writers’ Centre; The List; Tom McGrath Writers’ Room and University of the West of Scotland. CCA is also home to Saramago Cafe Bar, Aye-Aye Books and Welcome Home. For more information on how you can support these organisations during the venue closure, please see cca-glasgow.com/about-cca/cultural-tenants
