The dedicated community space will be available for groups to arrange events and exhibitions, as well as providing a venue for meetings or public drop in sessions.
The first group to use the free space which is situated on level 1 next to Mothercare, will be the Unexpected Artist with the Pint of Science exhibition which runs until the 30th May.
Anne Ledgerwood, general manager of St. Enoch Centre, said: “Everyone at St. Enoch Centre is proud that we have been at the heart of the local community since we first opened 30 years ago.
“Millions of people have passed through our doors over the years to enjoy some retail therapy or to spend time with family and friends in the food court.
“We wanted to say thank you to the people of Glasgow for their loyalty and support and the launch of a community space felt the ideal way to show our appreciation.
“We are confident that the space will be well used by a range of community groups and organisations and we look forward to welcoming them to the centre over the coming months and years.”
Glasgow’s leading shopping centre has also announced its support for three local charities as part of its birthday celebrations - Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice, Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity and Simon Community Scotland.
St. Enoch Centre is supporting Glasgow Children's Hospital Charity with Oor Wullie’s BIG Bucket Trail – a free public art trail coming to Glasgow this summer. The centre will also be hosting the Toddle Waddle in October to help the charity raise money to invest in equipment, research and the improvement of facilities and services for families and children in hospital to ensure they receive the best possible care.
Kirsten Sinclair, Chief Operating Officer at Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity said: “We’re incredibly grateful to St. Enoch Centre for their support for the charity and we’d like to take this opportunity to also thank their shoppers for their generosity. Thanks to their support, we can ensure that the young patients at Scotland’s busiest children’s hospital receive the extra special care they deserve.
“Throughout Oor Wullie’s BIG Bucket Trail, we’d like to encourage shoppers to pop along to St Enoch Centre to pick up all the latest souvenirs from the trail at the special retail space we have been kindly gifted by the centre. The trail promises to be a spectacular summer attraction for the whole country, and we hope as many people as possible will get involved and support Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity.”
The partnership will also see a range of initiatives with the Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice including welcoming the charity to promote an awareness week and helping them to raise funds to continue the valuable work at the new hospice in Bellahouston Park.
Heather Manson, Director of Fundraising said: “We appreciate the support of St Enoch’s and the people of Glasgow for a hospice that provides world-class care for patients. This brilliant partnership will help raise awareness of our Let’s Keep on Caring Campaign.”
St. Enoch Centre will also be supporting Simon Community Scotland, a charity dedicated to combating the causes and effects of homelessness which will benefit from funding provided by the centre to provide housing support, advice and a helpline for those who are or are at risk of becoming homeless.
