Reset Glasgow

Photographer and journalist Laura Coventry presents Reset Glasgow at Skypark a photographic exhibition capturing the effects of the first lockdown on Glasgow City Centre!

About Reset Glasgow

Skypark, one of Scotland’s premier business locations, has announced that photographer and journalist Laura Coventry will open with ‘Reset Glasgow’ its first public exhibition of 2022.

During the first lockdown, Laura headed into the city centre of Glasgow in April 2020 to capture the city as it never looked before – empty! It was as if someone had pressed the ‘reset’ button, which inspired Laura’s photography project’s name “Reset Glasgow”.

Laura Coventry, a former wedding and portrait photographer, who also enjoys street photography, said: “I remember thinking that lockdown would be a great photo opportunity, the chance to capture history on camera. I remember rushing into the empty city centre thinking lockdown would be short-lived!

“On that day, I walked up the once-bustling Buchanan Street, alone, it was eerie and very reminiscent of the film ’28 Days Later’. Then walked around to Royal Exchange Square, George Square, St Enoch Square – all were deserted.

“As the streets become busy with people once again I plan to go back and retake all my Reset Glasgow images. I am delighted to have my images on display in Skypark’s reception as I have often admired other photographers’ and artists’ work on these very walls when I worked at Skypark.”

Skypark’s strategic lettings advisor Angela Higgins of Resonance Capital said: “As we throw open the doors to our donated gallery this year, we are proud to welcome Laura Coventry’s exhibition. This is a body of work that captures the uncanny stillness of Glasgow at a time that we will all remember and reflect on. Our gallery will continue to support our City’s vibrant arts scene and its vital contribution to culture and the wider community”.

The exhibition – which includes ‘The Masked Duke’ a framed image of the famous Duke of Wellington statue wearing a face mask – runs until the end of March is free and open to the public from 9am to 5pm. A public opening night will take place on 17th February from 5-7pm. Laura is also available for commissions.

Please contact reception@skypark-glasgow.com on how to exhibit at Skypark’s donated gallery space.
