We invite members of the public, researchers, artists, writers, practitioners and all who are interested in autotheory and practices that merge lived experience with theory to a three-day event.
'Autotheory: Thinking through Self, Body and Practice' is a unique, cross-disciplinary conference on autotheory, taking place across the University of Glasgow, Tramway arts venue and Online from 26 – 28 October 2022.
The conference will feature a host of cutting-edge talks, performances, workshops and presentations, by an international base of artists, performers, and researchers who are currently (re)defining and expanding ‘autotheory’ as both a radical feminist arts practice within which we can ‘think with and through the body’ to overcome social, racial, class-based, gendered, and epistemic injustice, and as a novel, empowering and emerging methodology. We also welcome Dr Lauren Fournier, author of Autotheory as Feminist Practice in Art, Writing and Criticism (MIT Press, 2021), as our keynote speaker.
Come and join us for three provocative days of edgy, non-traditional papers, presentations, and collaborative practices designed to challenge the expectations of what an academic talk is, across two amazing venues and online. You can also support the conference by donating to the Crowdfunder here: www.crowdfunder.co.uk

You are welcome to join all or a selection of our sessions. Workshop tickets are limited so book soon.
We particularly welcome members of the public and non-academics to join us on the final day of the conference, at Tramway, for a series of talks, performances and a creative workshop that move away from traditional academic talks. Though everyone is welcome to all events, as we experiment with academic traditions throughout the conference.
Where possible we will update our listings to notify of cancelled, postponed and rescheduled events, however we STRONGLY ADVISE that you check with the venue/organiser in the first instance for updates.
