The GoMA Youth Group (GYG) is a bunch of 8 young, enthusiastic and passionate creatives with big ideas aged 16-25 working with the Gallery of Modern Art (GoMA). Their objective is to make museums and galleries more relevant to and inclusive of everyone by hosting a programme of events with the intention to use art to connect with communities and young people.
They are hosting their first ever GYG FESTIVAL from Tuesday the 19th of July until Friday the 29th of July 2022. For the festival, they teamed up with artists and organisations to create and host a series of free exciting events. Part of the festival is a rug tufting workshop with artist Sophy Louise, a sign painting workshop with Sure Signs, an art and pizza making workshop with Lazy Susan Pizzeria, an introduction to film programming and well as an artist’s film screening with GAMIS (Glasgow Artists’ Moving Image Studios), a talk with artist Melissa Wright and so much more. The GYG is so excited to be welcoming young people to take part and have fun!
All the events are free and spaces are limited! Most of them will take place at the Gallery of Modern Art in Glasgow.
Where possible we will update our listings to notify of cancelled, postponed and rescheduled events, however we STRONGLY ADVISE that you check with the venue/organiser in the first instance for updates.
