With a unique sound combining 70s influences with contemporary commentary on feminism and the LGBTQ+ community, Megan Black brings her deeply personal songwriting to Scotland on Tour. Her latest single ‘Deadly Is The Woman’ expands on Megan’s unapologetic vision, incorporating vintage-inspired sounds from blues, rock and jazz with sharp lyricism that reflects her own experiences of navigating the social and political spectrums in which she currently finds herself.
Sharing the line-up are Full Fat Band, consisting of Fraser McKain on electric guitar and lead vocals, Fraser Urquhart on bass guitar and backing vocals and Simon Rattray on drums. Full Fat Band describe themselves as having a melting pot of influences and styles; whether it be the blazing Stevie Ray inspired blues riffs from Fraser M, Fraser U’s frenzied funk bass a la Joe Dart or Simon’s country rhythms fit for Cash himself.
Megan Black said: “I can’t wait to play The Rum Shack, it’s such a unique venue and I’m so excited to have the opportunity to perform in Glasgow again thanks to Scotland on Tour.”
Scotland on Tour will take place over a period of 12 months between April 2022 and 2023, the remaining three concerts taking place as part of The Rum Shack series are Jemima Thewes on Sunday September 4th, Pictish Trail on Tuesday September 20th, and Twelfth Day on Sunday October 9th.
The project, which has been created and managed by Active Events, was made possible by £750,000 of Scottish Government backing and will focus on increasing the number of opportunities to showcase and enjoy live music, while bringing exciting acts to the doorstep of city, towns, villages and rural communities.
The year-long Scotland on Tour bill includes both emerging and established artists with genre-spanning acts appearing across the breadth and width of the country, with rock, pop, jazz, classical, folk, trad and acoustic genres all being showcased.
Where possible we will update our listings to notify of cancelled, postponed and rescheduled events, however we STRONGLY ADVISE that you check with the venue/organiser in the first instance for updates.
