Join a leisurely free led cycle ride from Tradeston Bridge to Carmyle viaduct and back, led by trained Sustrans volunteers and done at a leisurely/social pace.
We will meet at11.00 am Broomielaw at the northern end of Tradeston Bridge (sometime called the Squiggly Bridge).
Please arrive around 15 minutes beforehand for starting at 11 am. The route is around 15 miles altogether.
We will follow the south bank of the Clyde and along off-road paths, looking at points of interest en route including the new Barclays offices, Carlton Terrace, the Sheriff Court, Glasgow College, and the Mosque. We will follow the south bank (with a short detour to avoid the path closure)as far as Richmond Park then cross the river to Glasgow Green. We pass through Shawfield with its new landscaping and bridge - also the start of National Cycle Network route 756 up to East Kilbride. Toilets are available at the new Cuningar Park. We will follow the Clyde east to the Westburn / Carmyle viaduct, which is the furthest point. Then return along London Road, taking a look at the Velodrome. Then back to Broomielaw via Glasgow Green and the north side of the river.
We estimate the ride will take about 3 hours with a few breaks in between. Please be mindful of other route users when cycling to the starting point as well as throughout the ride. The ride leaders will take you back to the Tradeston Bridge but you can head off earlier if needbe, please just let a member of the ride team know so they are aware for a headcount.
Pre-booking for this ride is essential.
Where possible we will update our listings to notify of cancelled, postponed and rescheduled events, however we STRONGLY ADVISE that you check with the venue/organiser in the first instance for updates.
