Byres Road & Lanes Business Improvement District, with our partners Glasgow Life, the Gaelic Books Council, Waterstones, and Oxfam, are delighted to welcome you back to the fifth Byres Road Book Festival. We have a great range of events that we hope will engage, surprise and entertain all ages and varied interests.
The telling and sharing of stories - true, tall, tremendous or transformational - is fundamental to Glasgow's spirit. Once Upon a Time in the West End, taking place over Glasgow's family- friendly September weekend, will be a celebration of the local and the universal, though never the parochial!
With more than twenty-five events in the programme you can hear from some of the country's most-loved authors, take a paddle or dive into poetry, traverse Britain by church, delve into a literary Q&A, consider the notion of mooshy masculinity, explore new approaches to interior design, enjoy a variety of sessions for children, and much more. Add in a strong twist of Gaelic life (including Paddington!) and you have quite the long weekend.
We look forward to you joining us in the West End for a September weekend crammed with tales, characters, unlikely scenarios, conversations and laughter.
