Elaine created the online version of The Homebird Sessions at the start of the lockdown in 2020. Following its success, the show now tours across the country. Tonight, Elaine's guest it one of Scotland's leading singer-songwriters, Carol Laula.
Expect an intimate, relaxed and welcoming evening as the artists perform acoustic versions of their songs. Hear the stories that inspired them and tales from their respective musical journeys.
The show’s magic lies in Lennon’s ability to make music accessible for all. This is due to her informal and fun interview style and an interactive audience Q&A section. It's now a coveted showcase for aspiring songwriters, which supports Lennon’s desire to use the platform to help nurture and grow the songwriting community.
Carol Luala's style bobs around somewhere between the sweet, clear delicacy of Joni Mitchell and the tougher edges of Joan Armatrading. She first captivated audiences in 1990, when her single, ‘Standing Proud’, was chosen to represent Glasgow in its year of culture. With many successful world-wide tours and collaborations with artists like Stuart Anderson, Carol has a massive global fanbase. She's also known for her work with the BBC Radio and Scottish Television.
With 8 albums under her belt, she still stirs critics to describe her as "an undeniably passionate and whole-hearted singer". Although her albums capture her incredible tone and clarity, it's when you see her perform live that you truly appreciate the depth and range of her talent.
