About Bethlehem Cultural Festival: Arab Electronic Music

Zenobia, signed to Acid Arab and featuring producer Nasser Halahlih and keyboardists Isam Elias, will be playing Scotland for the first time. Pioneers of the vibrant Palestinian electronic music scene, their eclectic sound spans several influences from across the wider Levant and North Africa region. It combines Arabic pop melodies, Palestinian/Syrian Dabke rhythms, Palestinian folklore, synths & powerful beats with occasional dubby flavours.

Mo’Min Swaitat, is a London-based Palestinian artist and founder of the record label, The Majazz Project. Inspired by the Palestinian, Bedouin and Arabic sound archive, The Majazz Project is an archival record label reissuing and remixing vintage Arab vinyl and cassettes. They feature regularly on London’s NTS Radio and their sets feature both archival sounds and archival footage for a fully immersive experience.

Hiba is a Lebanese DJ and selector based in Glasgow who uses club spaces to platform Southwest Asian and North African artists to celebrate of Arab culture. She holds regular radio slots at EHFM and Radio Flouka to showcase the diversity and dynamism of Arabic music.

This event is part of the Bethlehem Cultural Festival, an independent platform for artists and cultural practitioners from Palestine and the Eastern Mediterranean. It celebrates and promotes the rich culture of Palestine and the surrounding region.
