"Taiwanese force of nature" (Chortle) Kuan-wen traded his beloved island for the rainy British isles, following the footsteps of his ancestors. His ancestors did not come to the UK; they left their homeland for Taiwan, encouraged and recruited by European colonisers to settle on the East Asian island once inhabited by aborigines who are Polynesians. The term "Taiwanese" symbolises generations of migrations and shifting identities. Kuan-wen then reflect on his mandatory military service that still haunts him to these days, as he watches Russia invasion of Ukraine since February 2022. Kuan-wen as heard and seen on BBC Three, BBC Radio 4 and Comedy Central UK.
