Each woman's work feeds into the exploration of the female experience through personal encounters and are driven by the desire to break down misogyny and work toward re-appropriation of women in art, re-claim, and own their femininity.
A Certain Romance aims to lift the shame placed on women as abject, breaking down the idealization of the female body and oppose the male gaze, especially in a pressurized modern and digital world. Through the normalization of what was once seen as abject, we hope to create a safe and inclusive space to explore and ponder these thoughts in relation to oneself. Together with different perspectives, experiences and autonomy on how our bodies have been perceived in society this will create diversity and open conversation around, sex, power and injustice and how this has shaped us as women
