The Bookface Sip & Swap event, held at August House in Glasgow is an inspirational monthly event on a Saturday afternoon where book lovers swap titles and participate in a 45-minute Q&A with some of the UK's most noted authors.
Fiona has written 17 novels and will be discussing her new book The Man I Met on Holiday and sharing tips on how to navigate becoming a successful author.
She’ll be sharing the inside track on how to write romance and comedy, land an agent and publisher and whether the truth is stranger than fiction when it comes to love and romance.
A former magazine exec, in her earlier career she worked on titles such as Just Seventeen, More! And Jackie. She has also enjoyed a successful career as a freelance journalist and has written for Elle, Red, Marie Claire, Sainsbury’s magazine, the Guardian, Telegraph and Observer.
Writing as Fiona Foden, she is also the author of four children’s novels including A Kiss, A Dare and a Boat Called Promise, based on her two years spent living on a bobbing narrowboat on the Regent’s Canal in Islington.
The monthly sold-out Bookface events are an opportunity for budding authors to pick the brains of successful authors and enjoy an uplifting afternoon with people who love reading.
Alan Parks, Susannah Constantine, Sam Baker, Doug Allan, Paul Trainer, Lisa Gray, Guy Grieve, Helen Fitzgerald, Paul English and Sophie Gravia are just some of the celebrated names who’ve taken part.
Fiona Gibson said: “I’m so looking forward to this Bookface event. I love nothing better than chatting about novel writing - whether it’s about where ideas come from, or how to dream up characters that readers will relate to. My books are all about the chaos and humour of everyday life. I also believe very strongly that women don’t stop having adventures post-40.”
Heather Suttie, avid reader and the founder of Bookface, the online book group which has attracted 2500 members worldwide, said: “Having Fiona share her experiences will be a hoot, I think we can all relate to dating disasters and hiccups in the pursuit of love and happiness!”
The Bookface events are great for saving money and being sustainable as the swap element is hugely popular with avid readers. Guests recycle books and pick up new ones from every genre, perhaps picking up titles they might not otherwise have chosen to read.
Guests are encouraged to bring four books to participate in the sustainable book swap where there are 400 titles to choose from.
Tickets priced £20 which includes two glasses of Prosecco are on sale via www.eventbrite.co.uk
