Artist K.Y.K (Karis Yves Knight) is delighted to present an exhibition opening in Glasgow's West End. The exhibition celebrates and recognises the voices of women from a variety of backgrounds to transform the way people see themselves. Represented through abstract, highly colourful and visual portraiture. Artworks are accompanied by live performances.
The ‘Voice of Women' art show shares women’s voices while creating a space for reflection, community and celebration. Artist K.Y.K stated “I really want to create an uplifting experience with space for intimate response, relatability and connection. I want this exhibition to help bring people together from all walks of life through art, performance and speakers. What better way to celebrate International Woman's Day & Mothers Day in the month of March!”
The paintings shown capture and represent the idea and depiction of women’s values. This is expressed beyond the focus which objectifies physical sexual bodies and appearances - with the portraits representing achievements and struggles in a dreamy, almost psychedelic, abstract expression.
The ‘Voice of Women' Art show, on Saturday, 18th March from 2pm - 6pm brings ecstatic vibrancy and colour to Glasgow's West End at the iconic PINK HDS building in Jordanhill. With leading female figures in the TV & Film industries depicted as well as those across a multitude of lifestyles and backgrounds, the exhibition aims to represent all women from all walks of life. Each portrait sold provides a 25% donation to a chosen charity from the portrayed woman.
Artist K.Y.K also mentioned “I realise how amazing and multifaceted we are as humans. This made me reflect on myself, as a woman in this world. I feel compelled to use my art to create a space for women to share their voices to empower others.”
