This course follows a structured, tried-and-tested, programme which introduces participants to the skills and techniques of confident speaking. It offers 4 interactive sessions with informational presentations and a range of learning materials. The sessions are conducted in a supportive and positive atmosphere by club members who know what it's like to feel anxious about public speaking.
The programme is designed to help those who might feel nervous about speaking, whether it's a looming wedding speech or presentation, or if you want to get ahead at work or build more confidence generally. It is essentially a crash-course, designed to immerse the participants in various aspects of speaking and break through that invisible barrier! You'll also get the chance to visit your local club where you will be invited to join and continue practising your speaking skills.
Areas covered in the 4 week session include:
• dealing with nerves
• how to deliver an effective talk
• body language and vocal variety
• impromptu and prepared speaking
• giving feedback
• keeping to time
This 4 week session will be delivered primarily online via Zoom, with the 3rd week giving you the opportunity to visit a Central Scotland club of your choice to experience the programme in person and seeing how a club meeting runs and how it benefits you. If you don't live in Central Scotland, don't worry. Some of our clubs run hybrid meetings so you can join in online.
The clubs are located in Dunfermline, Stirling, Linlithgow and Livingston - Dunfermline only meet in-person but the other 3 clubs also offer online attendance.

This is a Toastmasters International Speechcraft Programme and is delivered free of charge to participants. It is organised collaboratively by four clubs in Central Scotland - Dunfermline Toastmasters, Linlithgow Speakers, Livingston Speakers and Stirling Speakers and all are members of Toastmasters International.
Where possible we will update our listings to notify of cancelled, postponed and rescheduled events, however we STRONGLY ADVISE that you check with the venue/organiser in the first instance for updates.
