It stems from an international research collaboration utilising Augusto Boal’s celebrated models of the Theatre of the Oppressed and Forum Theatre to generate community-based dialogue and response to complex conflicts sparked by wildfires in Bolivia’s Chiquitania. This region is home to one of the largest dry forests in the world and is inhabited by a diverse mix of indigenous, peasant, Mennonite, migrant and urban communities. In recent years, this human and ecological landscape has been increasingly scarred by extreme fires.
Featuring photographs and documentary film, the exhibition is suitable for the general public as well as for individuals with specific interest in social and ecological challenges, Theatre of the Oppressed, climate change and Latin America. Produced in collaboration with universities Glasgow, Manchester and Newcastle and NGO Ciudadania Bolivia.
