Many of the mansions built during America’s “Gilded Age” were inspired by - some may say copied from - a varied selection of classic English houses. They were lived in by an eclectic mix of millionaires: the man dubbed 'The American Prince of Wales'; the woman who swapped a necklace for what is now a flagship store on New York’s Fifth Avenue; and, both the victim and accused of one of the most highly publicized crimes of the 1980s. Through the splendour of the architecture on both sides of the Atlantic, we’ll delve into the characters, quirks, and frequently amusing stories behind these truly international treasures.
