The group, organised by The Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) Scotland, aims to provide a welcoming environment where participants can chat, connect with like-minded individuals, and enjoy a game of dominoes.
The dominoes themselves are tactile, allowing players to feel the number of dots on each piece. Players of all levels are welcome, whether they are a dominoes expert or are new to the game.
Groups like this can make a real difference to combatting isolation, says RNIB Scotland Community Coordinator, Conor Joseph,
“Many of our community spend a lot of time on their own so really the dominoes is an excuse to allow people to be sociable and chat with friends,” he says. “In our group in Edinburgh, you meet some great people- a real bunch of characters and friends, and so we are looking forward to welcoming players in Glasgow too.”
The café where the group will meet is easily accessible, just a short walk from major bus and train routes. Doors will open from 12pm, allowing attendees the option to arrive early and enjoy a delicious lunch prior to the dominoes games, which will commence at 1pm.
* The RNIB Glasgow Dominoes Group will gather for the first meeting on Thursday, June 29th at R-CADE, located at 121 Saltmarket, Glasgow, G1 5LF. Due to limited space in the café, prospective attendees are encouraged to confirm their participation in advance to secure their spot. To register or seek further information, please reach out to RNIB Scotland by emailing ScotlandCommunityConnection@rnib.org.uk
