Poignant, thrilling and darkly passionate—join us at Glasgow Cathedral Festival for an unforgettable screening of Murnau’s legendary romance-drama, with live musical accompaniment from one of the world’s most celebrated organists and improvisers, Thierry Escaich.
'Sunrise: A Song of Two Humans' (1927) is a true classic, representing the pinnacle of the silent film art form, and going on to win three Oscars at the first ever Academy Awards ceremony. Underpinning this cinematic masterpiece, Thierry Escaich (Professor of Improvisation, Paris Conservatoire) brings his unique and fiery soundtrack to Glasgow’s gothic cathedral. Performing on the cathedral’s 140-year-old pipe organ, he will take you on an emotional rollercoaster, through moments of heartbreaking tenderness to scenes of agonising suspense—with cataclysmic surround sound that will glue you to your seat.
