Finlay MacDonald Band with Jose Manuel Tejedor

About Finlay MacDonald Band with Jose Manuel Tejedor

For over 20 years, Finlay MacDonald has been at the forefront of the contemporary piping scene. His music has been played by leading folk artists and pipe bands alike, tonight he has assembled a cast of long time collaborators including Ali Hutton, Paul Jennings to celebrate his music.

Finlay has blazed a trail as one of Scotland's finest exponents of contemporary and traditional Piping. He has worked with many leading artists in the traditional music scene including Fred Morrison, The Unusual Suspects, La Banda Europa, Old Blind Dogs and Chris Stout.

As a soloist, he has collaborated with many world famous ensembles including the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, The Trondheim Symphony Orchestra and the RTE Philharmonic. In the Pop and Rock world there have been unique performances with such diverse artistes such as Bryan Adams, Biffy Clyro and the rap artist P.Diddy.

His compositions and arrangements have been played by a wide variety of world famous musicians and performers including the 8 times World Pipe Band Champions, Field Marshal Montgomery Pipe Band, The Scottish Power Pipe Band, Phil Cunningham and Aly Bain, Session A9 and RURA.

Always driven by collaboration and innovation, Finlay's passion for the music he has grown up with has led him to the post of "Director of Piping" at the National Piping Centre and the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland where he continues to inspire and develop the very best of new Piping talent.

José Manuel Tejedor is one of the most recognized pipers in Asturies. His works and collaborations cross borders and styles, just as his compositions are covered by the best performers of the folk world. He has been active for more than twenty years and has won the most prestigious awards in traditional music, in addition to performing around the world with the Tejedor group.

In 2008 he released “Miraes”, his first solo album. In it, he reveals her most personal tone with compositions that use bagpipes, wistles, violin, piano, bouzuki, guitars and percussions with a more current vision of understanding music. With this work he won the AMAS award for Best Folk Record.

In 2022, he released “Lluz”, his second work, which he presented at the Teatro Palaciu Valdés.
