About International Women’s Day: Piano Music by British Female Composers
Being a member of two minority groups in his adopted country, as both gay and Asian, the pianist Hiroaki Takenouchi identifies as an ally of UK female composers.
In this lecture recital, he explores the music by five composers across the 19th and 20th centuries: Caroline Reinagle, Dorothy Howell, Madeleine Dring, Doreen Carwithen, and Scotland’s own Helen Hopekirk.
