Don't miss this opportunity to get crafty and add a personal touch to your gift wrapping this holiday season!
Join printmaker and illustrator Abbie Lois at the Hidden Gardens. This session will introduce you to the materials, tools, and methodology for lino printmaking. Lino printing is a hands-on print making technique, drawing a design onto a linoleum (lino) surface that is then carved out using special carving tools. Ink is then rolled on to the carved lino, then the design is pressed by hand on to your chosen surface, such as paper or fabric. In this session we will also learn the methods for repeat-pattern making.
Everyone will leave the workshop with their own printed wrapping paper and gift tags, and can take their carved lino home to keep using their design if they wish!
No previous experience required, and all materials are provided for this session, including imagery for inspiration. Please feel free to bring your own imagery for inspiration too!
Make sure you wear clothes you don’t mind getting messy, however the ink is water-based so should easily come off in a wash if you do get some on your clothes.
The Boiler Room at the Hidden Gardens is a beautiful venue accessible through Tramway, but if closed, from a lane off Pollokshaws Road near Scottish Ballet. You may wish to bring a bottle of water or pick up a coffee on your way into the venue.
Where possible we will update our listings to notify of cancelled, postponed and rescheduled events, however we STRONGLY ADVISE that you check with the venue/organiser in the first instance for updates.
