The cinematic celebration is being organised by the Kirky Picture Palace (KPP), which provided a selection box of festive films at the venue on 23 December 2023.
The KPP Scottish Film Festival takes place on 27 and 28 January 2024 – including full weekend passes and individual movies.
Saturday 27 January:
* The Water Horse – Legend of the Deep (PG)
* Wild Rose (15)
* Scottish Mussel (15)
Sunday 28 January:
* Sunshine On Leith (PG)
* Edie (12A)
The KPP is organised by Your Kirky and supported by East Dunbartonshire Leisure and Culture (EDLC) Trust – which operates Kirkintilloch Town Hall.
Councillor Jim Gibbons, Chair of EDLC, said, "We're pleased to be able to host the Picture Palace's first-ever Scottish Film Festival at Kirkintilloch Town Hall. The homegrown cinema has been popular with people of all ages. Keep an eye out for more events throughout 2024."
Tickets are available from Create ED (46 Cowgate, Kirkintilloch) and online by visiting the Kirky Picture Palace website.
Doors open 15 minutes before screenings, and there will be snacks and refreshments available to purchase.
Serina Marshall, Cinema Co-ordinator of the KPP, said, "We were delighted to welcome nearly 200 people to our Christmas movies on 23 December – as well as Santa Claus! In addition to the festive films, we also had a snow machine and the wonderful Kirkintilloch Kelvin Brass band played seasonal tunes for our customers.
"Thanks to all who supported us in 2023, not least our fantastic volunteers who make the Picture Palace possible. Tickets are selling well for our Scottish Film Festival – don't miss out."
Volunteer Elspeth Milne said, "I wished and hoped for a cinema in Kirkintilloch for many years. It's great to be part of the team that brings films to our town."
Where possible we will update our listings to notify of cancelled, postponed and rescheduled events, however we STRONGLY ADVISE that you check with the venue/organiser in the first instance for updates.
