Easter Edge is a unique circus arts festival designed as a progressive programme. Choose 4 arts and do a workshop on each of them every day for 4 days of the holiday weekend
Get the edge on your aerial and acro arts with this approach to circus conventions – four full days of fun yet focused training over the Easter holiday weekend. Places are very limited – there are only 30 spots and half have already been snapped up.
At the Easter Edge, you’ll curate your own experience by choosing four aerial, acrobatic and flow arts then do a 90-minute workshop in each of them every day for four days. There are three or four arts to choose from in each time slot.
Examples of what you can choose from:
• Flying trapeze
• Aerial hoop
• Trapeze
• Doubles trapeze
• Silks and rope
• Teeterboard
• Chinese/fly pole
• Flow arts including hula hoop & rope dart
• Acrobatics and tumbling
• Handstands, hand balancing and acrobalance
• Trampoline
This is no random taster session bonanza. It’s designed to give you appreciable progress by training the same four arts at the same time every day, for the four days. This is a great opportunity to try new things as well as having a field day with your favourites.
With your instructor, you can choose a specific goal which is appropriate for your level in any arts where you already have some experience. For arts that you haven’t tried before, you can focus on transferring your skills from existing disciplines, or work the basics if it’s completely new to you, and get a solid grip on it before the weekend’s over.
Whatever skills you may or may not have at the start, you'll finish up at a higher level. You may be surprised how training your body and mind intensively like this, day after day, can boost your skills.
Last year, participants saw unprecedented progress as seemingly unconnected arts produced connections through the body and mind coordination systems that became more than the sum of the parts.
What you learned on the dynamic hoop pathway brought unexpected breakthroughs in flying trapeze. The progressions in the flow arts path helped you on the acrobatics path.
And of course, it's all ridiculously enjoyable. Some people may be more experienced and skilled than you, others less...the beautiful thing is that we're all there together encouraging each other, laughing and loving what we do.
