Suitable for ages 14+
Join our 5-week pottery wheel course for intermediate throwers. Refine skills, explore new shapes like vases, jugs, and jars with lids, and learn new throwing and trimming techniques. Take home 6-10 pieces.
Each 2-hour session includes demonstrations and personalised guidance in small groups of up to 6 people.
We use stoneware clay and custom in-house glazes. Items are food and dishwasher safe when glazed properly.
Commitment to all five sessions required. Quarterly dates—check availability and book online below.
Course Schedule:
Week 1: Reintroduction to throwing. Learn how to collar in your cylinder to create a bottleneck/vase form.
Week 2: Trim the pieces thrown in the week prior using a chuck (a tool used to trim forms with a narrow rim).
Week 3: Learn how to throw a closed form or a ‘yoyo jar’.
Week 4: Trim your jars thrown in the week prior using a suction technique and experiment with using decorative slip (coloured clay) to finish your pieces.
Week 5: Learn how to glaze your pottery wares and experiment with layering glazes and masking.
Where possible we will update our listings to notify of cancelled, postponed and rescheduled events, however we STRONGLY ADVISE that you check with the venue/organiser in the first instance for updates.
