Set within one of Glasgow’s most historic and iconic buildings in the heart of the city centre, the stunning venue, alongside professional wedding planner Oskar Gilchrist-Grodnicki, will host its first ever immersive wedding workshop helping guests create their dream day.
The ticketed ‘Grand Rehearsal’ wedding event – which is set to take place on Thursday 18th April from 6pm to 9pm – will offer couples the perfect opportunity to envision and build their dream wedding day while interacting with the hotel’s collection of exclusively curated suppliers. Part of the proceeds from the event will be donated to Wedding Wish Makers – a local charity which helps fund weddings for people with a terminal or life shortening illness.
Hosted by renowned Scottish presenter, singer and entertainer, Edward Reid, guests can explore the stunning hotel and wedding venue – part of IHG Hotels – before enjoying a series of round table workshops with special speakers. Guests will hear from and get the chance to put their questions to industry experts and suppliers including entertainment specialists Tartan Entertainment, celebrity make-up artist Kirsty Martin, top-flight calligrapher Laila Lettering, French fine winery Moët & Chandon and wedding celebrant Tasha Leung, who will discuss ceremony legalities and how to create personalised nuptials.
Taking place in the fabulous surroundings of voco Grand Central, which will be spectacularly dressed, guests will be able to visualise their own special day. Attendees will be greeted with champagne and canapes before guest speakers take to the stage, providing exclusive industry insights and top tips for planning the perfect wedding. All set within a spectacular city centre venue – which has been a popular destination for celebrities over the years including Hollywood legends Fred Astaire and Frank Sinatra.
Oskar, who is an award-winning wedding planner and known in the industry as ‘The Wedding Guru’, said: “The Grand Rehearsal will be a wedding event like no other, giving couples planning their wedding unparalleled access to Scotland’s leading suppliers – allowing them to soak up the expert knowledge and advice on offer.
“We want couples to walk away from this event feeling empowered and knowledgeable. If you’re struggling with next steps or can’t put on paper exactly what your dream wedding is to look like – this is the perfect event for you. I am confident we’ll help you make your wedding dreams come true.”
Marcello Ventisei, General Manager at voco® Grand Central, said: “We’ve had the pleasure of being one of the most popular hotels in Glasgow for more than one hundred years, so we’re looking forward to highlighting why we’re also a great option for weddings, especially as Grand Central Glasgow is a truly unique venue.
“We can cater to all different types and sizes of weddings and work closely with local suppliers to create the most special experience for couples.
“Our hotel has it all in terms of class, glamour and understated elegance which has been a huge appeal to many of the betrothed couples booking with us. The ‘Grand Rehearsal’ event will allow guests the opportunity to speak to the experts who are eager to really make their Grand Central nuptials a showstopping experience and help plan the wedding day of their dreams. It’s also a great way for the hotel to support the Wedding Wish Makers charity.”
For those planning a large wedding within the city centre, the ballroom within the hotel is a grand space that can accommodate a minimum of 150 guests and up to 350 guests, while the unique Victoria and Regent suites can wow up to 140 guests. Those looking for something a little more intimate can opt for the Clyde and Queens, which can cater up to 60 guests.
Where possible we will update our listings to notify of cancelled, postponed and rescheduled events, however we STRONGLY ADVISE that you check with the venue/organiser in the first instance for updates.
