Scotland's Climate Week: Climate Week aims to raise awareness of climate change and to encourage us all to consider the actions required from all of society in order to achieve net zero.
Forth Valley Climate Action Hub is hosting a series of events themed around nature-based solutions to climate change throughout the Forth Valley, incorporating community learning, shared stories, a symposium and a fun family day all centred on how we work together with the natural world to adapt to our changing environment.
This learning visit event is in partnership with Argyl and Bute Climate Action Network
Lochgoil Community River Restoration Project – Thursday Sept 26th, 11am to 2/2.30pm
Are you concerned about the condition of your local river? About increasing flooding and storm damage and dropping fish numbers? Come and find out how they have managed to reverse the situation in Lochgoil.
This is a joint project between Lochgoil Community Trust and Argyll Fisheries Trust, to improve the River Goil through the creation of green revetements along the riverbanks. These have created over the past 3-4 years and have proved very beneficial for the river and community. They have protected the river from storm damage and reduced flooding. While the trout population, which has been dropping for years due to the river warming, is rising, with the local angling club noting an increase in fry numbers.
