When I made Eye to the Telescope, it never crossed my mind where I might be when it turned 20. Over the years, I’ve been told the most amazing stories of what these songs mean to people all over the World, how they’ve been with them through love and loss, through being lost and getting found. It’s been a beautiful thrill.
20 years on, a major shindig needed cooking up, and believe me, I have been busy in the party kitchen…
We have to kick it off in Scotland, so how about a fancy posh one AND a rockin’ knees-up?! With my dear, talented pal Roddy Hart and the Lonesome Fire, I’ll be performing the album in full at the beautiful Royal Concert Hall in Glasgow as part of the Celtic Connections celebrations, and follow up with a second show at none other than the beloved Barrowlands.
A few months later on June 23rd - my actual 50th birthday! - I’ll perform the album one more time with a phenomenal line up of musicians, including the brilliant Andy Burrows on drums, at the legendary Royal Albert Hall.
I told you I’d been cookin’! Can’t wait to see you all!
