This in-person afternoon workshop will guide you through the process of creating a unique and personalised fabric advent calendar to help you count down the days until Christmas. Materials included:
Heat-tranfer Vinyl (gold and silver)
Wooden dowlling
String
1m of undyed cotton canvas
(everything you need!)
Suitable for:
Not-quite-so beginners and beyond. (Basic sewing machine skills are required.)
Techniques included:
Working with domestic and industrial sewing machines
Stitch techniques - edge stitching, bagging out, patch pockets
Heat-tranfer Vinyl application
What to bring:
Basic sewing kit (seam ripper, snips, fabric scissors, pins, hand sewing needles, chalk/pencil)
You are welcome to bring your own sewing machine and your own fabric.
You will have access to:
A sewing machine to use during class
Scrap fabrics for practices and samples
An iron
We have a limited amount of sewing supplies for students to borrow. Please get in touch at indie.sewing.room@gmail.com if you would like to know more.
Food & drinks:
We will provide festive snacks & hot drinks. Please get in touch if you have any specific dietry requirments.
About your tutors:
You will be led by seasoned sewing instructors Cara and Siobhan, who have a combined 25+ years experience in garment and textiles manufacturing.
Accessibility:
The Indie Sewing Room is located on the 3rd floor of Park Lane House and is accessible via ramp, elevator, and stairs. You will be contacted with more information before the class.
