We warmly invite you to celebrate the launch of Lullabies for the Land, a book of global lullabies, through a captivating live performance.
On Monday, 16 December, at 7 PM, Wellington Church in Glasgow will host a special concert that promises to be a moving experience for the whole family.
The performance will feature world-renowned harpist and composer Eleanor Turner, who will play the complete songlist from Lullabies for the Land — a beautifully illustrated collection of harp arrangements of lullabies from around the world. These lullabies are paired with artwork by Scottish-Palestinian artist Dima Nowarah. The evening will raise awareness of cultural erasure and support two Palestinian children's charities: the Ghassan Abu Sittah Children’s Fund and the Middle East Children’s Alliance.
Lullabies for the Land includes eighteen lullabies from Palestine, the Cherokee Nation, Europe, Japan, India, and Scotland. It’s a poignant celebration of cultural heritage and the universal language of music. As Eleanor puts it, “Music has the power to connect us across borders and cultures. Performing these lullabies is an act of resistance against oppression and colonisation.”
Eleanor will bring these lullabies to life with harp and percussion, guiding the audience on a musical journey across diverse traditions. The performance will remind us of a simple truth: around the world, at every moment, there is a lullaby being sung to a child.
We welcome everyone to join us for this inspiring evening. Children under 5 are free, ages 6-18 just £5, and adult tickets are £10.
There will be a dedicated children's corner for little ones to play, while the audience enjoys the concert in a relaxed, cabaret-style setting. Enjoy traditional sweet treats, tea, and beautiful company in a space that fosters connection and reflection. We will also shine a spotlight on Palestinian culture and music while raising funds for the Ghassan Abu Sittah Children’s Fund and the Middle East Children’s Alliance.
Wellington Church of Scotland in Glasgow is an historic venue known for it's inclusive, welcoming atmosphere and ongoing support for social justice and Palestine, providing the perfect backdrop for an evening of music, storytelling, and solidarity.
Copies of Lullabies for the Land will be available for purchase.
