About In Conversation: Gary Stevenson

Gary Stevenson’s story is one of extremes: a modest Essex childhood; a prodigious understanding of maths and markets, and an exhilarating ascent to become – at one point- among Citibank’s star traders. But this Master of the Universe status came from speculating on broadening inequality and the poverty that resulted from the Crash of 2008.

Gary Stevenson now works to disperse some of the mystique that surrounds economics, and his riveting memoir The Trading Game was a 2024 bestseller.

He joins us to discuss his life and ideas.
